Mbira, Mhararano, Chartwell Dutiro

The West Kootenay mbira community is excited to reconnect with our dear friend and gwenyambira master Chartwell Dutiro for a long weekend mbira intensive, October 17-20, 2013, Nelson, BC

Weekend format:

-Communal style of teaching by Chartwell -Daily individual and group lessons in mbira, singing/yodeling, hosho and dance

-3 nights accommodation and meals, including a traditional Zimbabwean dinner -Evening and late night mbira gatherings


-No formal structure to the weekend

-Relaxed learning atmosphere

-Inclusive for all skill levels

-Youth are encouraged

-Family friendly

Adult $345 cabin (triple occupancy)

$375 lodge (double occupancy)

Youth* $175 cabin or lodge

Family** $525 cabin or lodge

Full Price (deadline October 10th)

Adult $395 cabin

Youth* $200 cabin or lodge

Family** $575 cabin or lodge

*Youth is under 18 years; a child/youth under 16 requires a chaperone.

**A family rate will be offered when two parents have young children and therefore will not be able to both attend all the lessons.
