Hello folks, hope you are all doing well where ever in the world you are. Temperatures have dropped here in London and the envy of those with fireplaces is slowly kicking in as I wish that I could sit in front of a nice log fire and play the night away. Here are a few things that have been happening in the world of mbira over the past few days… Mhararano Mbira Academy Launches 2014 Prospectus Mbira Course, Mbira Lessons Based in Devon, England, Mhararano Mbira Academy delivers projects centred around mbira music from Zimbabwe. You can learn playing mbira, singing, dance and also learn about Shona language and culture. Please download their prospectus for 2014 here  Sungura and Mbira in Conversation  Having won a NAMA award for Outstanding Female Musician, Hope Masike is pushing the ‘orthodoxy’ of what mbira music is expected to sound like. A few months ago she did a very successful collaboration with hip-hop outfit Monkey Nuts. This time around she’s done a mix of mbira and sungura.
