Hello good friends. Hoping that the week has been great. Just mad typing this just before heading to Zimbabwe in Devon mbira camp.
As this is a quick one, just thought to share two videos from Khaya African Arts. Totally love these videos mainly because most people in the group who are doing the singing are from Zimbabwe but they are not Shona. The Makombe brothers are on the mbira. It excites me because it touches on a subject I will be covering in the next few weeks, ‘Mbira beyond the ‘Shona’ in Zimbabwe’. I will be talking about my experiences of the Bulawayo mbira scene something you don’t here about often but is thriving nonetheless.
Have a great weekend and catch up after the mbira camp!
