Last week a collaboration between Zvembira and Ticha Muzavazi saw one mbira enthusiast win a brand new nyunga nyunga mbira as part of the celebrations of Mbira Month.

Being the Inaugral winner of Zvembira’s Mbira contest, I am the happiest man on earth today after collecting my Mbira from poet and mbira teacher, Trust Mutekwa aka Ticha Muzavazi. Had a tough time in choosing the one from his gallery.
A poet by proffesion, it has always been my dream to one day accompany my poetry with mbira. I enjoy the music of Chiwoniso Maraire and Hope Masike. Courtsey of Zvembira together with Ticha Muzavazi , I now have a mbira. Soon enough i will post a poem accompanied with the mbira ….watch this space.
A lot of thanks to Zvembira
Both Ticha Muzavazi and Zvembira are delighted that we played a part in fulfilling Edward Dzonze’s dream of owning a mbira. Another nyunga nyunga will be on offer again at the end of the month. This time we will make sure that we devise a way to enter the competition if you are not on Facebook. Like before, it is open to entries from any part of the world.
